Hi All, I'm new to seti and boinc. I have donated 3 of my computer's CPU time for seti and I will add a 4th if I can get help with this. I am having trouble with one of my systems, OS=FreeBSD 6.3-RELEASE Regardless of the CPU usage limit set, cpu hammers along at 100% Firstly, this is the output of boinc: ===================================== [seti@networkservices ~]$ boinc_client 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] Starting BOINC client version 5.4.9 for i386-unknown-freebsd 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] libcurl/7.15.5 OpenSSL/0.9.7e zlib/1.2.3 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] Data directory: /usr/home/seti 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [SETI@home] Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] Processor: 1 i386 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 0 bytes virtual 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] Disk: 64.46 GB total, 34.77 GB free 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [SETI@home] URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID: 4181989; location: home; project prefs: default 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2008-01-29 15:34:20) 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] General prefs: using separate prefs for home 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] Local control only allowed 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [---] Listening on port 31416 2008-01-29 15:46:46 [SETI@home] Resuming task 27dc06ae.17478.6207.15.6.210_1 using setiathome_enhanced version 521 ===================================== [seti@networkservices ~]$ cat global_prefs.xml |grep cpu_usage <cpu_usage_limit>70</cpu_usage_limit> <cpu_usage_limit>70</cpu_usage_limit> Info on the process: ==================== PID USERNAME THR PRI NICE SIZE RES STATE TIME WCPU COMMAND 25839 seti 2 20 19 69148K 43716K ksesig 0:30 98.19% setiathome-5.15.i38 Any ideas what the problem is? |

The BOINC client 5.4.9 did not support CPU throtteling. The CPU throtteling is supported since 5.8.x. Please upgrade to 5.8.15 or newer. |
