I Just got a new Mac, the Mac Pro with dual 2.8 Xeon's quad cores and OS X 10.5.1 When the screen saver is running, it freezes every few seconds for a fraction of a second. Any one else seeing this? Any ideas why its doing this? I downloaded BOINC 5.10.38, didn't make a difference.

What excatly freezes ? - Does the screensaver stop moving for a short time ? - This is OK, if you are using CPU throtteling. In the time where the SETI process is not on the CPU, the screensaver did not moving.

Yes, the image stops moving for a second or longer. What is CPU Throtteling? This never happened on my last Mac.

With CPU throtteling the BOINC client reduce/limits the CPU usage of the science application to a configurable value.
It is configurable in the computing preferences at your account page under "Use at most 100 percent of CPU time" or via the BOINC Manager (Advanced / Preferences/ processor usage) as option "Use at most XX % CPU time".

Do you have limited the CPU usage at the Prefernces on the SETI homepage or via the BOINC Manager ?

Update: It seems I still have a problem with the screen saver, It just stoped running on the WU it was showing. Going to the BOINC manager and clicking on show graphics also doesn't work, but the other 3 WU that are running on my mac will show graphics when you select them and click on the show button. The non showing WH is still running, I can see the clock running on the task window. Any thoughts?
