Has anyone ever tried to come up with a way to use the incredible processing power held within the graphics cards in most computers to speed up the number crunching? I don't need a pretty picture on my screen if it will speed up the search. That is a lot of computing power just sitting there around the world. full knowledge of the Great Beyond is only the rest of your life away. Doug |

Genom@home Folding@home Seti for now only testing yoyo@home and i think other 2 but i don't remember use GPU (graphic procesor unit) to crunch... ther is the link for crunching Seti on GPU: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=44099 |

You might have to do a search through the forums but there is some work being done with both NVIDIA CUDA and the AMD Firestream. The programming is vary complex and is only being toyed with by users right now. The Seti team has worked with NVIDIA in the past but I’m not sure what there official standing is right now. |

Admins/Eric: GPU crunching may be the only way you're going to get all the computing power you will need for astropulse. |

If you don't want to do the work yourself, then as the present number of staff at Berkeley are very much overworked, the only solution is for you to donate lots of cash so that extra staff can be employed. |
