Message 698798 - Posted: 10 Jan 2008, 4:50:21 UTC

I got a rant from someone using the name "Norman Copeland" as a PM, member of Paddy's in Space, but hasn't crunched anything yet. Seems like the kind of account that should be removed to me...

Maybe there should be an option to opt out of the PM system like on most other fora software that has the feature.

Well, actually, I just looked at all of you who reported that you did get it. You all have something in common: all of you have "friends" listed. Furthermore, all of you have MISFIT as one of your "friends"...

So, "blame Misfit"... ;-)

Really though, blame David Anderson for the silly friend thing. I figured it would be the source of spam-like activities sooner or later...

Hasn't everybody got MISFIT as a "friend"?

How sad it is to not be considered spamworthy, eh?

Having determined there are "friends" of MISFIT who did not get spammed, the next question that strikes me is "Did anyone get the spam PM who has not accepted MISFIT as a "friend?"

F.

Yes, me.

P.S. With balance in mind I would like a like a non-friend link (or similar). One must not assume because someone that isn't marked as a friend isn't. Or assume that all the others not marked a friend are enemies.

HUH? I was referring specifically to the profile pages showing people as "friends". I said nothing about "enemies" or "I tolerate them sometimes" or whatever...

I'm confused... :-\\

Also, I didn't think you had gotten it, as you just said "the mods have already been informed", which is not exactly stating that you got it. You could've just known about the situation...
