Ok, I've lost my account key and am trying to retreive it. According to the other posts in this forum running the following command should retrieve it

boinc_cmd --lookup_account http://setiathome.berkeley.edu <email> <password>

For me the only thing that I get is

retval: 0

I'm running boinc 5.8.15 on Gentoo without X. What am I doing wrong.

That looks like the completion code.

Have you got boinccmd output being directed to an stdout.txt somewhere? If you have, likely the information is in that output file.

No, I'm not redirecting the output, the command that I am typing is exactly what is shown in my original message (obviously substituting the relevant details for the <email> and <password> entries).

After the --lookup_account you need to do a --lookup_account_poll. This is slightly odd but with the way boinc is set up it kind of makes sense. the --lookup_account command just sends a command to the core client to do an account lookup but it won't block and wait for a response. Hence you have to wait for the operation to complete and then do a --lookup_account_poll to get the authenticator.

Also the gentoo package is quite old. I've been bugging the maintainer to update for a while but apparently he is too busy. Feel free to check out the bug report on it. They have some overlays you can use. Hmm maybe I should offer to maintain it...

Toby,

Thanks for the tip. When I do the --lookup_account_poll I get the following response....

error_num: -136
authenticator:

Any ideas?

Thanks again

I got the same error number when I mistyped my email address. According to this that error number indicates that a record wasn't found in the database. Are you sure you are using the same email and password as you do to log in to these forums?
