Hello!

I installed the astro/boinc-setiathome-enhanced port on a new machine and copied the account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file from an already participating machine to the new one's /var/db/boinc/

Boinc/seti started fine and appear to work on both processors.

However, when I look at the listing under "Your computers", this new machine's entry does not display the name.

I'm not sure, if anyone but me is allowed to view the computer's properties, but if you can, I'd like to know, why the host's name and domain are not shown there...

The not shown hostname is a FreeBSD releated problem. It look like on some FreeBSD releases the hostname query function did not work proper.
Btw. the hostnames are not visible for other peoples.

The not shown hostname is a FreeBSD related problem.

Well, I can type ``hostname'' on command prompt and see the hostname printed out immediately...

There is a internal C routine in the BOINC client which read out the hostname. So it looks like we must modify this routine on FreeBSD.
I would talk with Rene (the FreeBSD SETI porter of the FreeBSD ports) about this problem.

In FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE I just set the hostname in /etc/hosts:
IP-address Hostname

Examples:
10.0.0.2 myname

10.0.0.2 myname.mydomain.whatever

After a contact to the project servers, that name will then be shown. At least it does for me. Maybe it works on previous versions too ;)
