What advantage to joining a team be?

Being part of a community, the feeling of friendship, as well as friendly competition with other teams. Some people pick a team and stay forever, others switch teams frequently, and still others would rather remain as individuals without any team affiliation. You can search for teams here or read the various recruiting threads in this forum.

I am a member of BOINC Synergy. BOINC Synergy is an international team of people who all dedicate their spare idle CPU time to worthy science projects run over the internet using the BOINC platform. We started way back in 2001 with a tiny team that crunched for SETI@Home, but over the years have grown into an international community currently ranked #5 in the world for all BOINC projects with over 79 countries of the world represented, almost 2000 members, and now we exist across ALL BOINC projects. As much as we're quite a large team, were also a friendly one... our main goal is to provide you the member with all the things you could possibly want related to BOINC and the BOINC Projects. Just a few things you can find here at our website are Daily Updated News as it comes from all the projects, A GREAT Forum with friendly members to help out or just chat to, GREAT Stats for each and every project in BOINC (open to the whole world), counter signatures with your hourly updated stats, and much more. So if you're not in a team come have a chat with us, OR just go ahead and sign up!

Stephanie, each team will offer you different advantages. It kinda depends on what your goals are, where you live, who you want to associate with, etc. There is a team out there for everything you can think of.

That being said, the team I\\'m on is a very friendly team. We have chat most nights, a VERY active forum, and members from all over the globe from 1 computer to quite a few. We are not as numbers oriented as some of the teams around, but we do okay with the little membership we have (In fact our credit/member is higher than most of the top ranking teams, FYI).

Our website is http://www.calmchaos.org and dont let the dark look scare you off, we dont bite, much ;)

Daniel

As Dan said, it depends on what you are looking for.

There is something for everyone around here. You just need to go through some of the team threads and decide what type of team you want to be a part of.

Whatever you do, take your time when deciding what team to join. Make sure you are a good fit, and you'll never regret the decision to join. :-)

Stephanie, I am member of team BOINC Synergy as well, and as Misfit already has stated, our team is represented in all projects, and we are very proactive in each project.

To me, the most important thing about choosing a team was the "feeling" of the people there. Our team board is very friendly, it's open for all, also non-members, and we have a nice tone there. No flamings are allowed there, and as the board is open for all to read, nothing is being said there that can't be said in the open, and this keeps the tone nice.

So take a good look at the various team boards, get the "feeling" of the tone there, and then decide. In case you choose us, I'll welcome you over there. :-)

And welcome to the project and to the boards.
