I read somewhere recently that everyone's Seti BOINC stats may be reset at some point in time, perhaps when Seti classic ends? Is this the case?

NOT LIKELY!
Everyones Classic stats will be reset to their actual stats when it shuts down but the Boinc stats themselves will not be touched. The current Classic stats were snapshotted awhile back and are not up to date but will be updated after that version is done.

I sure hope not. Maybe it will have to be "adjusted?" but resetting wouldn't make sense (unless there's something I'm missing?)

There are a number of rumors floating around. But one of the realities is that we are still working on the infrastructure of BOINC. So, almost all of the projects are still leaning towards telling you we are still in testing.

This gives them room if, um, a mistake is made. Heck, if you look at Predictor@Home's web site they say they are still in alpha test.

Another issue is the fact that the statistics for SETI@Home Classic were a snapshot at a particular moment in time. So, that means that if you continued working on Classic and also BOINC, the BOINC account numbers would, and are "stale". They should be updated when Classic is shut down.

There are enough other credit rumors floating around that you could make interesting conspiricies if that is your mind set.

Thanks for the replies. It was probably either old info or someone perpetuating some rumor. I'm not really worried about it, as I'm not merely a "stats whore",LOL.

Well, that is welcome news ...

When I was in SETI@Home Classic I was into the stats a lot ... and as I grew up it became just a item of conversation ...

Now, we have several projects we can get work from it is so nice ...

Now I can think more about the science and less about "mine is bigger than yours" ...

Besides, you and I likely will never have 200 machines we can claim because we are using the server farm where we work ... oops, I forgot, I don't work ...

The good news is that the methods some were using were so stupid ... I mean, I got 60,000 work units done, no cheating, and that is something to be proud of. If I had cloned results, well, I could have made millions ... as it is, what was the point?

I just wished that Pirates/Einstein@Home would get the lead out ... and I am fervently hoping to see Predictor@Home come back REAL SOON NOW! :)

It is old info. When this site was being tested, it was understood, and posted that stats might be reset when it went public. Indeed when S@H BOINC went live, the stats were reset. Stats are also reset on some of the other projects (APLHA) on an irregular basis (it has happened to us twice in the last month or so).
