Except if the concept had already been implemented. There is something like 3M wu's in process right now, so a run of shorties would have to be pretty large to fill that queue, right?

Of that "3M WU's", probably 1M are the "shorties" that are under discussion, about 75% of them created in the last 3 days. Most of the rest are a) normal workload for Berkeley; or b) WU's that have been sitting in the stack for some time - WU's that are awaiting quorum. I, for instance, have roughly twice my RAC "pending" and that's the low side... I've had the pending outweigh the RAC by 3x at times.

(note: my RAC is hovering about 1k per day...)

Sometimes it could be RAC x 4. In my case it is very near that value, as my current pending credit is 947.34 (yesterday it was 1100+).

Happy holidays,

These short units are high-yielders - they give high credits-per-hour. My RAC is higher than it's ever been since the credit readjustment several months ago. It's up about 10 percent from its normal level. But if we start getting those low-yielders again (like the units that give 25-to-30 credits each) the RAC will dive.

Gene, welcome to SETI. For a work unit to get credit it must have two concurring results sent in. If the two results are not quite close enough the WU will go out to a third person then those results are compared. Until these WUs get two people to agree on the results they stay in pending.

WU are sent to 2 computers so the results can be validated. If you return yours first then you have to wait until the other user returns his. If the results match up then credits are issued to both. If the results are not close enough then it is sent to another system and you have to wait until that is returned.

I just noticed I received another crapload of 20 minute WU's on my C2D.

Lets hope the splitters can keep the queue filled so that we don't get a repeat of a few days ago. And also lets hope that the results won't clobber the servers again.

I also noticed that the splitters are only creating 4WU's per second at the moment.

Keep an eye on the Scarecrow Graphs.. It updates once an hour...last update shows the splitter rate shooting back up....
