Hi there,

I have two computers that are always on and running Boinc (only Seti).

At the beginning they were constantly at the same total credit (when all WU's were credited), but since they reached 2500 or something, they started to differ. Differ quite a lot.

I know, it could be explained by their different architecture (see below), but why were they keeping up with eachother for so long then?
They _both_ take 4 hours to complete a workunit, so that can't explain the difference.

Can anybody explain why they differ so much in total credit?

Computer 1:
total credit = 4965.35
AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2000+ Linux 2.4.26-gentoo-r9

Computer 2:
total credit = 3905.36
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz Pentium Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition, Service Pack 4, (05.00.2195.00)

Hi there. Im no expert on this but as you crunch, so do other users. If one of your result returns a value of 100 for example, but another user returns a value of 90 then the lower value is given to all who crunched that WU.

Another reason is claimed credit is the result of CPU time and benchmark results.
As your PC's have different OS's even if the CPU time is the same the claimed credit for both PC's will be different.

You did not enabled or disable HyperThreading in that box when it had credit around 2500?

Other possibility is that if I'm right, version 4 counts little bit different benchmarks, som till you used version 3 they keep the same credit, after you switched to version 4 they started to be different.
