I installed BOINC last night. When I turned on my computer this morning and clicked on BOINC Manager, It said, and still says, "Processing Suspended: User Active". What does this mean? How will I know if everything is working ok?

If you go into your Account settings on the website, check your computing preferences. Is Suspend work while computer is in use? set to Yes or No? If it's set to Yes, change that to No and you should be ok.

It means that your preferences are set to suspend Boinc (stop working) whenever you start actively using the computer for something else.
My suggestion would be to consider to let Boinc run always, in background all the time. On most systems this will hardly be noticed since Boinc is set at the lowest priority and steps out of the way of most other computer usage.

This setting can be controlled in several ways.

On the web
in Your account - When and how BOINC uses your computer - Computing preferences
Suspend work while computer is in use? yes *no

Click Update preferences at bottom of page. This change wont take effect until Boinc contacts the website to get work or if you do an Update in Advance view - Projects tab.

Preferences can also be set locally in the Boinc manager.
NOTE: The following overrides your Web based preferences and effect only the computer on which they are made.
----------
in Simple View
Preferences - Do work after idle for 0 (Run Always) minutes.
----------
in Advanced View
Advanced menu - Preferences - Processor Usage tab
Computing allowed - (check mark) While computer is in use
or
Activity Menu - select run always
----------
Also Note: There is a Snooze if you right click Boinc icon in the system tray next to the clock. This suspends Boinc activity for one hour.
