when i input in my email fro seti it tells me the email already exists, i used to run seti at home on my old mac. but when i request for a new passwrd be sent to my email address it tells me that there is no email that exists under that name...im totally lost and not sure why this is happening ...i would just like to continue to help out, but the systems is making it a bit difficult for me....please help

It sounds like you have an old classic account. You should activate it. There is a link for Classic users on one of the pages for account creation.

How long ago was it since you used your old account?

If you were one of the original seti@home participants, you cannot use your old Seti Classic account, but what you can do is use the account you are using now and claim your old seti credit.

I had the problem of a) not remembering the password to my old Seti Classic account AND b) my old e-mail accoun was no longer valid as the ISP I had it with went bust.

The admins don't have the time to provide personal service. Over the years there have been over a million accounts opened and currently there are more than 200 thousand active users. The boards are the only real source of information and help. That's why this Q%A section exists.

Without the email address nothing can be done. It is the only unique identifier to your account. Not even the admins could help you without it.
