Hi all, I got a question concerning account merging. The situation is following. Back in 99 I created this account and soon "forgot" the password to it. A few days ago I "remebered" it and now want to use it again as my only account. In the mean time however I created 2 other accounts which I now don't need anymore. What I would like to do is transfer the credit the other 2 accounts generated to my first account and delete the 2. Is that possible? Thanks for your help. Tom |

Accounts cannot be merged and are never deleted. |

Actually, you can merge one SETI Classic into a BOINC account. The one you created in 99 was a Classic account. If you have not merged a classic account into your BOINC account, you should be able to do this. Note that the classic credits were calculated very differently and do not generate BOINC credit. Your join date would change, and there would be a note of the Classic credit. BOINC WIKI |

If you have not merged a classic account into your BOINC account, you should be able to do this. Is there a way to undo the merge to the SETI Classic account. I would like to have back the join date I had before I merged my old account last week. I did not realize that my join date would change. |

PLEASE CANCEL THIS REQUEST --- I've found the answer on "Your Computers" page ====================================================edit Please confirm my worst fears. I have just had to reformat my host's computer. Firstly, I would like to merge the new host that was created with the old one and continue to use that. I believe this used to be possible, but is no longer. Secondly, if this is not possible, I would like to remove the tasks that were previously "in progress". I suspect that this, too, is not a possibility. Although I am pretty sure I am to be disappointed, I would very much appreciate any advice that may be available to do either of the 2 actions mentioned above. Keith |

PLEASE CANCEL THIS REQUEST --- I've found the answer on "Your Computers" page If the CPU description and the OS description strings are the same, the you will be able to merge the computers. I am of course assuming that you used the same account to attach the old computer and the replacement. BOINC WIKI |

PLEASE CANCEL THIS REQUEST --- I've found the answer on "Your Computers" page Yes, John. that's exactly what I did after posting the last message and before the subsequent "edit". It was just a pity I could not retain my older host id (i.e. the lower number) as the later is retained. I knew this facility had been there some time back, but I took some time to locate it's whereabouts this time!!! It would not be a bad idea if an automated private message could be sent out to any host that becomes inactive for (say) 10 days, suggesting that this is an option should they have ceased using the account. Further, it could be extended to an automatic detachment by SETI in the case of the hidden "anonymous" cases. (These are not always necessarily "culprits", but should be aware that this action is likely to take place). Keith |

Of course, it's difficult to do that now, in some cases; "automatic" PM->EMail had been turned off... |
