Has anyone tried to run BOINC as a service on Leopard? I tried the same script to do this as I had working in Tiger, but though it adds the BOINC executable to /Library/Startup Items, it never runs.

I would greatly prefer to run this as a background service and just use the manager to set prefs and whatnot...or (if anyone in the development team is reading) have an option to not have the Dock/Menu Bar icons (I don't use the screensaver).

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Type this line of code into your Terminal, or place it in .profile, or use it as a cron job... The possibilities are endless as to how to execute it, but it'll do the trick at getting boinc up and running, out of sight out of mind... ;)

/Applications/BOINCManager.app/Contents/Resources/boinc -redirectio -dir /Library/Application\\ Support/BOINC\\ Data/ &

(Cool... I like the new bbcode 'code' tag!)
It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . .
