I feel like a scrooge here for bringing it up, so please don't flame me. I feel however a few people can screw up many other people's RAC's and it needs to be reigned in. When a WU waits for months for a wingman to complete it, and a wingman has around 600 WU's in wait on a computer with about an 80 RAC with no chance in Hades of completing 5% of what is in waiting, and keeps getting more WU's because they keep rotting on thier hard drive, about 550+ wingmen are getting slowed. Work unit 158302052 is an example only, others exist. Can the system be made to only allow what a computer can accomplish within a reasonable amount of time? I am appreciative and pleased at all the SETI participant’s world wide; common sense however should be applied. I am most appreciative also of our system maintainers and the experienced hands that answer questions.

Each computer has a daily quota. The quota is reduced by one for every computation error, and is reduced by one for every result returned late. Unfortunately going up in quota doubles each time a result is returned on time with no errors.

Hi and Thank You for your response. I must be confused on your statement all though to me it appears quite clear in words. This in no way explains to me so I understand how anyone with a small AMD processor, a very small processor apparently, with half a gig of ram can possibly get almost 600 WU's in waiting. As you can see I run several AMD's, one is a single core 3000+ and it has a RAC of just under 300 and only has 19 WU's in waiting with preferences set to 2.5 days and 100 gig of hard drive space. My AMD 6000+ dual core only has 70ish in waiting with a rac of 900+. When I see a wingman with almost 600 WU's in waiting and by the looks most are rotting, on a machine with a rac of 80, things don't add up even if preferences are set it to an infinite amount of days and hard drive space using the explanation provided. I know it sounds like I am flaming someone here, I am not. I see other posts of people asking to include pending credits in the rac, and I accept the reasoning why it is not included, even with over 8k on my account in pending. Again it seems to me just using this example provided earlier as there are others, there are about 550 WU's or better that will rot on the hard drive and get reissued 1 to 2 months later and that many wingmen waiting their results. The answer is that it is automatic, but can take some time to take effect. There is a mechanism in place (and if he returns a bunch of late work, the daily quota will drop dramatically).
