re: "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park"

Another reason why you don't wanna eat your city pigeon - ya don't know what that bird has eaten - some people do poison pigeons!
.

I'd never want to eat raw pigeon, homeless or not! The problem with strychnine and other poisons is that other animals (and possibly people) would get poisoned, too. Maybe some kind of isolation but still a cat or raptor could eat a poisoned but still-alive pigeon. One would also have to find a way to dispose of the dead birds, probably from a high and maybe slanted rooftop. One way of disposing of birds in concentration is to spray them with detergenty water from a helicopter, etc on a cold day. That dissolves their natural oils and soaks in through their feathers. Maybe there should be rain, too. More research should be done before wasting time and effort on this, though.

The best way to reduce pigeon population is with birds of prey, most species of which need repopulation anyways. This is yet another good reason not to poison the poor things.
