My nickname is Inetjack. I'm a member of Quebec team. I don't know why but my name appear twice in the rank list of Quebec team. When i click on one of my name (14th), i can view my account info and it shows as (SETI@home member since date) the 1 nov 1999. When i click one me second name (37th), i can view my account info and it shows as (SETI@home member since date) the 9 jun 2006. Could i merge my two account in one? Where can i send an email to Seti@Home to ask them to merge my two accounts?

Thank you

BOINC accounts cannot be merged. Make sure you continue using the account you'd like to keep and the other will remain dormant.

You are going to have to figure out which computer(s) you have are attached to the wrong account. Detach them from the incorrect account and attach them to the correct account. There is a file called account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml that contains an <authenticator> tag. Log in with this tag to see which account that computer is attached to.

Hi Inetjack,

just curious: Are you sure, that these two accounts you mentioned belong to you? Maybe someone else uses the same nickname as you (nicknames must not be unique in Seti, only email addresses have to).

Did you use exactly the same email address? Are both projects attached to the same machine?

Jacques

You are correct in your assumption that you have 2 accounts, both in your name.
One has user id 8423771 and the other user id 87829 (and must have different email addresses).
The former is set not to allow viewing of computers, and the latter has 4 active computers connected.
3 of these are running Windows XP, and the other is an AuthenticAMD running Windows 2000.

I would suggest that you detach all computers from the former user id. Then, if you have any computers connected only to the former user id, re-attach those, using the latter user id, to keep all computers together. You will, as far as I know, not be able to transfer the credits accrued under the former user id.

SETI retain the unused id and do not delete it, so to tidy up your team report (and save waiting for your "ghost" id to drift slowly down the list), I would suggest that you remove the reference to the team from your preferences (using, of course, the 8423771 user id) before you detach the computer(s).

The account with the lower user ID is a classic account which may or may not have been activated.

John
i don't quite follow what you mean by "may or may not be activated".
No doubt you have seen the Classic credit shown on this account?

Inetjack, The entry listed has 14th on your team looks like it has not had any activity since the beginning of October. At the same time your computers where added to the second entry, now at 60th place, on your team. This second entry has been getting all the activity.

Did something happen at the beginning of October to cause the change in accounts?

I cannot agree entirely with PaperDragon's findings as 8423771 is apparently now inactive.
There may be some confusion regarding RAC and Total Credit team positions of the 2 accounts.

Account 8423771 (the newer at 60th RAC) shows RAC of only 36.92, but Total credit of 152,826.
Account 87829 (the original at 9th RAC) shows RAC of 1,138.72, but Total credit of 36.124.

So, it seems that 8423771 was created 9th june 2006 (determined from the account number), and, although at present inactive, did accumulate considerable total credit from it's creation, but, I believe, became inactive well over a month ago in order for the RAC to drop as low as 36.92.

If only 8423771 were not hidden, more light might be thrown on what is happening here.

It's up to you, InetJack.
1. A touch more information on what happened on 9th June 2006?
2. Unhide 8423771 if the computer used from June 2006 is still accessible?
