How many BOINC projects have a screen saver?

1. SETI@home - Yes
2. Einstein@home - Yes

3. SETI beta - Don't know! Will the work units display a screen saver?

What other projects have a screen saver?

CPDN?
Rosseta?
seasonal Attribution?
World Comunity Grid?
Predictor?
LHC@home?
Any of the number or maths projects?

How many BOINC projects have a screen saver?

1. SETI@home - Yes
2. Einstein@home - Yes
...

Others that have are:

CPDN
Rosetta
LHC

Any more?

And for some venues, the pretty screensaver is 'all important' for getting the software accepted!

Happy crunchin',
Martin

Pirates

Champ is pirates a test project for Einstein or some other project?

Kinda just like the SETI@home Beta screen saver will be the same as the regular SETI@home work units!

For unique screen savers i can kinda cross SETIbeta off the list as it is the same screen saver as the main SETI project.

So i can revise the list like this;

1. SETI@home - Yes : SETI beta - Yes... Same screen saver
2. Einstein@home - Yes : Pirates@home - Yes... Same screen saver
3. CPDN - Yes
4. Rosseta - Yes
5. LHC@home - Yes

Is my list correct now?

Or is there only 5 projects with screen savers!

I don't really look at the screensavers, but BBC Climate, CPDN Climate and SAP Climate all have their own screensavers (not the same). CPDN Beta also has a screen saver which is different to CPDN regulo, well it was the last time I crunched it.

Eric Myers at Pirates tests different things, sometimes it's some small bits of code, other times it's graphics, and board features are tested as well.

Different examples of graphics at Pirates:

One little simple one:

The Christmas one:

The Matrix one:

Projects that I run:

SETI, Yes
SETI Beta, Yes
Rosetta, Yes (very nice screensaver)
RALPH, Not Sure (probably the same as Rosetta)
Leiden Classical, Yes
LHC, Yes (I think the SS is not related to the WU being crunched)

BTW I don't run the Screen Savers much but it is nice ocassionally.

Yes.
Leiden Classical, Yes

I’ve never been able to get that one to work on my Macs; it doesn’t even show the default BOINC message—and on my dual G5 it also suppresses the graphics from any other project’s app that’s running on the other core.[/quote]

2. Einstein@home - Yes : Pirates@home - Yes... Same screen saver

No, not since Einstein’s “sextant” screensaver was released on its own project AFAIK. Beginning sometime before I began participating in it, Pirates@home has (sporadically) been testing a number of apps with various displays, none of them resembling E@h’s.

Ralph is the Beta for Rosetta from what I've read on the Rosetta forums.

What would be good would be a gallery of all the projects' screensavers...

Anyone?

Add it into the Boinc HELP WiKi?

Cheers,
Martin

1. SETI@home - Yes : SETI beta - Yes... Same screen saver
2. Einstein@home - Yes : Pirates@home - Yes...Screen saver may vary!
3. CPDN - Yes
4. CPDN Beta - Yes - Different SS to CPDN
5. Seasonal Attribution - Yes
6. BBC Climate - Yes
7. World Comunity Grid - Yes
8. Rosseta - Yes : Ralph - Yes... same or similar to Rosseta
9. LHC@home - Yes
10. QMC - Yes
11. Malariacontrol.net - Yes

13. Spinhenge - Yes

Anymore projects with screen savers anyone?

This is a valuable list, would be nice to record it as ML1 has suggested! With a nice screen shot of each.

I only run the screen saver from time to time myself, just to remind me why i am doing this. But projects with a screen savers do attract more users!

If anyone reading this would like to take a screen shot of these project screen savers and post the pictures, that would be cool. Then we can create a wiki page for them.
