Got back from vacation (two weeks driving around New Zealand in a campervan) and am mostly getting caught up on what I missed. On one hand, we're still cleaning up lots of fallout from various minor outages. On the other, nothing all that major happened beyond what we normally deal with. In good news, Bob got the science database replica officially working at this point. Sweet.

I'll keep this short as I have a lot on my plate. Hey look.. the database is choking right now. What's up with that...?

Welcome back Matt, sounds like a great holiday.

Get looking at that database though, when your database chokes, the whole community gets asphyxiated!

For the record, I just put a note on the front page - we'll be offline all night to clean up the database (suffering severe bloat due to recent server outages).

on that note... (E.G. for the record)

What is the "db_purge.x86_64" process that (as far as I can tell) is brand-new on the "Server Status Page"? (shown as "not running" at 2210 Berkeley time)

Oh, and welcome back!

Have no clue, but having beta_file_deleter.i686 off since April isn't adding anything to the bloat is it?

Thanks for the heads up, welcome back and great work.
