PLEASE, PLEASE include "Credits Pending" in Statistics graphs (if this is at all possible). Or even make a preference for them to be (or not be) included?

Otherwise the RAC ceases to be meaningful. It bounces up and down reflecting the variation in the length of the SETI queue of pending credits, completely masking what would otherwise be the comparatively steady flow of work completed by the host (or by the user).

This request, if fulfilled, would be very helpful to those who wish to monitor the output of computers. Any problem would very easily be detected instead of the usual dismissive thoughts of "Oh yes, it's another bottleneck building up" requiring an examination of that page to confirm.

It would be much, much appreciated if someone would acknowledge this appeal for pending credits to be aggregated in calculating figures on graphs on the Statistics page in BOINC Manager (or an option in preferences to do so, maybe).

Is it possible without too much computer time being used?

It certainly would reflect a more realistic value to the average figures giving a far, far better view on each host's work turnover, making it a valuable monitoring tool. At present the so called "average" is swamped by an inverse reflection of the size of total pending credits (which makes it meaningless and useless).

The issue with this is if a machine does go wonky, your numbers would start going backward. This would then upset more of the masses than the current way, since it's been that way for over 4 years, and people are used to it.

All depending on your definition of "wonky" (and presumably a "machine" being a host computer). If something is "wonky", it will be producing rubbish irrespective of the application used. There's a small difference between being "used to it" and "putting up with it". Maybe I'm not as complacent as many others, and would like to see an improvement. The only backwards effect would be on the granting of a lower amount than that claimed, which would be an extremely small fraction of the total pending credits.

From the number of complaints about pending credits, I thought, at least, my suggestion was constructive.

Pooh Bear did at least answer this thread even though I did not find the reply helpful.

It would be much appreciated if someone would give an answer as to the possibility of the Statistics page showing AGGREGATE figures to include PENDING CREDITS on the STATISTICS PAGE, the reasons for which I have already mentioned.

I believe one of the web sites does do this, so it SHOULD at least be POSSIBLE.

If there is no reply here (and my hopes are not high), I will put this request onto the "Number Crunching" board in spite of the fact that this board is nominally the most appropriate, and, I had hoped, would be read by the more technically informed persons.

It is very unlikely to happen. The administrators decided a long time ago that having credits go down would cause more consternation than having to wait for credits for a while. I don't believe that pending credits are in the credits XML file that the third party stats sites are supposed to use.

Many thanks for reply, John.

Maybe the original decision not to aggregate figures might well be reviewed since the Pending Credits have now become so overbearingly much larger since that decision was previously taken. Their omission, with so many fluctuations, hides any worthwhile meaning of the graphs displayed.

The ideal would be to have the present graphs with a second line of the aggregation above it so that everyone would be clear as to their meaning (and then would not have any reason to make the complaints that were so feared in making the decision mentioned).

I hope that those instrumental to making that decision might read this and reconsider. A direct reply, should they happen to do so, would be very much appreciated.

Any chance this might be considered? Any response from SETI programmers?
