Hello, i known that my request is suspicious, but i had an old account with an old mail(nore more used) and of course i forgot my password... Maybe. If it was a Classic S@H account, it can be attached to one BOINC S@H. There is a link on your account page to do this. (you don't need the password). If it was a BOINC S@H account, it depends on whether you still have a computer crunching on that account. If you do, the authenticator can be recovered from the account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file. Open it in your favorite text editor and look for authenticator. OR if you still have the machine on which you last connected, the authenticator can be found in a cookie. BOINC WIKI |

Hello, i known that my request is suspicious, but i had an old account with an old mail(nore more used) and of course i forgot my password... OK. I know that there is a link on the web site someplace. However, it disappears once you have the link made. I don't remember exactly where it is. BOINC WIKI |

I have a similar question, except that I ran SETI about 6 years ago and dont have the old machine. The only record I have left is my old account email address (no password and email address is no longer valid). Can I port over my old account to a new one using my old email address ?? |

The only record I have left is my old account email address (no password and email address is no longer valid). Can I port over my old account to a new one using my old email address ?? This is supposed to work. About a year ago the requirement for the password was dropped. Since you have a BOINC account, you should have a link available someplace that allows you to attach the Classic account. BOINC WIKI |

I too have a similar question. I originally joined the Seti@Home project in 1997 or 1998--(I'm not sure when exactly, could have been early 1999). I lost record of my old user account data when my computer's hard drive crashed. Since I had no way back then to claim my old account, I created a new account and started processing data again. The only difference between my old account and new account is that I put a "2" on the end of my user name. Both accounts were Classic Seti accounts. When I converted to BOINC, I linked to my second classic account but had no way to find, and thus link to, my first classic account. Is there any way to claim my original account? My email address was a CompuServe address, so it does not exist anymore. Thanks, Jeff ***** Okay, I searched the forum and I now understand that it is not possible to combine two old Classic accounts into one BOINC account. So, the question I have now is this: Is there a way to reclaim my original, first Classic SETI account? If so, I can then create a second BOINC account and link to it. |

If you know the email address of the old account (it does not have to be an active email address, but you do have to know it) you can attach it to an account that does not have another classic account attached. Good morning. I am another victim of having not used his account in quite some time. I do have my email address and have sent myself my account key. However, upon logging in, S@H is indicating that my account was created mid 2006 and i have zero credits :-/ Any assistance in recovering the lost stats would be very much appreciated. Thanks! - dmess0r |

However, upon logging in, S@H is indicating that my account was created mid 2006 and i have zero credits :-/ After you create your new BOINC-SETI account (which you have already done), you must then link the new account to your old SETI@Home (dubbed "SETI Classic") to it via the appropriate option provided here. Note that when you link your old account, the joined date should be correct, but all your old credits will not be converted over to the new SETI due to an incompatibility in the way credits are now given. Your old stats will remain a separate stat in your account to show your participation. |

Did you click on the link under "If you are already using BOINC"? Having also problems claiming my old credits. After clicking on that option and entering my old e-mail address it gives me the answer: This e-mail address (xxx@xxx.xx) belongs to an active BOINC account. So what now ? Old e-mail address doesn't exists any more, and I don't have any other Informations left from the old account. Accountnames are both Atemfrei. Thanks for help |

Did you click on the link under "If you are already using BOINC"? Hi Atemfrei, there's already a classic account linked to your BOINC account (see your account, 3 classic WUs, 144 hours). You can only link one classic account to each BOINC account. It is not possible to link several classic accounts to one BOINC account. HTH Andy |
