There has been some discussion in this forum about the fact that the dollar is the primary currency used to trade for Oil. This started only very recently; like yesterday. Today I was listening to conservative talk radio host Glen Beck and a good portion of his show was about the dollar and its relation to Oil. I am a regular listener because there is no other talk radio on FM where I live. I have never ever heard him discuss anything related to the topic before.

Is this just pure coincidence? Am I becoming a conspiracy kook? Perhaps the connection of the dollar to oil and how that may affect the US going to war with Iraq and possibly Iran is real? It was just too uncany to not say anything.

The dollar has been the primary currency for trade in oil for many decades (since before the break up of Standard Oil).

Now was oil one of the reasons for going to war in Iraq? I believe that there is already a thread on that topic.

I totally agree. That is what makes it so weird. Almost seems like the Gov was listening and decided they needed to put out a spin about it. :0
