Is there any plans for CPU throttling in Seti@home, I do not want to run a third party program to acvhieve this. I have not run Seti@home for awhile now as this can generate a lot of heat in the processor(s) running full throttle. I will again dedicate 2 to 3 puters to seti 24/7 if this gets incorperated into the seti@home program. But at this time I am not rich enough to have my puters burn out on a free service to seti. |

That is now a built-in function in BOINC (since version 5.6.x) and can be set in your general preferences, or, as a per-computer-based setting, in your BOINC manager under advanced -> preferences (by using this local set, you should also check the other settings there). Also bear in mind that you need version 5.6.x or higher of BOINC to get this to work... ;-) HTH Andy |

Be warned it does not do throttling as most people would expect. If you set it at 80% it will run 8 seconds at 100% then go idle 2 seconds. This allows compatibility through all OSs. My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

More informations about CPU throttling at CPU Usage Percentage, how does it work? in the BOINC FAQ Service. |
