is there any way you can also listen to the actual signals?

No. But you wouldn't want to anyway. The sound is similar to listening to a radio tuned between stations (sounds like a bunch of static/noise).

There's nothing special about the sounds of space. You'd tire rather quickly at the novelty and would turn it off quickly. The effort would be wasted and offers nothing in the way of the science.

But for how long would it sound "cool"? And should energy that's already in short supply be spent on programming sound for the few that find it "relaxing"?

Considering you could just go out and buy a white/pink noise generator for cheap that accomplishes that relaxation function thingy.
