What if your computer picks up a signal ? Will seti@home know about that? And what computer picked up on it? Or will many computers pick-up the same signal if that happened ? Or is this a dum question? And would that person get reconnition for that ? Doesnt matter ,Just curious?

A lot of verification will happen first. They will probably rerun the work on more computers to see what happens, plus before and after to see if anything else is seen, etc.

Yes, the people that do "find" a signal will be idolized somehow. They do know who has done what.

There are lots of neat things on the FAQ areas, about area, Technical News forum, etc. that are nice to read.

BTW: Welcome aboard!

If you find a signal, the result will be compared with the results from other WUs from the same piece of sky. This is to verify that it is a real signal.

Yes, the people that crunch each task are recorded, and I believe (not quite certain) that they will be contacted (if possible - email addresses are not verified).
