As the title says, I need help installing the Java runtime environment. I keep getting an error as follows:

Windows Installer has encountered a problem...

AppName: msiexec.exe AppVer: 3.1.4000.1433 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 001f3996

I can get the rest of the debug info if necessary. The computer is a 4800+ with Windows XP Pro x64.

I know this has nothing to do with SAH, but I figure with the wealth of knowledge here, someone can help me.

Which JRE? I just reinstalled it on my X2 6000 (winxp pro 64 sp2, and if memory serves, there's a 32b version and a 64b version. I've installed a couple different ones, so this might not be it.

Thanks for the help Astro, yes that helped. I was able to get a previous version installed, but to no avail, the results were not what I was looking for. The answer lies in the link you posted.

"but not the Java Plugin or Java Web Start (which are not yet available for 64-bit Windows"

Again, thanks for the help.
