some results do not match

from my computer
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=151002592
Spike count: 7
Pulse count: 9
Triplet count: 2
Gaussian count: 0

Spike count: 2
Pulse count: 29
Triplet count: 0
Gaussian count: 0 is the good result

I have a lot like that
Pending credit, look out your WU, when not match, they sent a other one

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=152060153

this one not matching, the sah_validate will send out a other one WU

Computer from Crispin (arkayn)

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu//workunit.php?wuid=150482535

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu//workunit.php?wuid=151396870

this one not the same result so, will get 0 credit

got a lot of not matching result and so the other user of V7.2mb

I can't post on http://forums.macnn.com/72/team-macnn/344990/we-have-problem-ak-optimized-app/

The first link is down, the second link all 3 validates fine....

I've checked mine on two different WU instances of 3 initial replications, all validates, even though results are different....

Am I missing something here...?

I see your point VO....

I did have some results with 0 credits, but I also have results that are different from the rest of the quorums but still being granted credit.

I've reverted to the previous client, but I doubt it will solve the issue, since Alex said the new optimised clients were only build to address the credit-overclaiming issue.

I run V7.2 since 29 aug 17:05 and nothing happen, with the 7.2mb, pending credit was huge because they resend a 3rd WU to someboby... strange

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=152044770
Spike count: 5
Pulse count: 1
Triplet count: 0
Gaussian count: 1

Spike count: 5
Pulse count: 0
Triplet count: 0
Gaussian count: 1

pulse don't match but have been credit... well, no big deal, what peculiar about all that is, why resend a 3rd WU? with the 7.2mb

Welp, I've completed 6 WUs using the non-mb 7.2 client... 5 validated without 3rd WU, awaiting the last result to be matched with another one. Will keep an eye on the progress of the rest.

Looks like I've gotta revert back to the non-mb client for my other machines tomorrow. Damn, I hate to redownload WUs on a slow seti server...!!!

Question to VO:

Do you happen to have a Mac Pro crunching on 0 credit...? I can't be certain because the link you've given tied to already discarded WUs. And I can see Jedi_Mstr has a Mac Pro.

I'm not sure if I see this as a pattern but I think this is only plaguing the Mac Pro/Xeon systems. I received several zero-credit WUs with 7.2mb, but no zero-credit WUs were ever registered on my other systems running CDs/C2Ds. To be specific, I have two iMacs C2Ds, two iMac CDs, and one Mac Mini CD.

Crispin have a imac 7200 @ 2.00GHz

the problem I think is the 7.2mb and yes I have a lot of 0 credit with 7.2mb

I have a PC 3.3 who's working with the 7.1mb and everything all right.

i posted this over in the crunching forums to so i apologise for the double post:

ok here we go

after running alexs 7.2MB for a week or so i have a huge amount of results sitting in my pending credit, there appears to be a serious problem with it, and as far as i can see its increasing the overall time and resources allocated to each unit completed by this worker.

so i have reverted back to the pre-release(v8) version which although over claims a little does however seem to complete the science most of the time and not cause another instance of the unit to be sent out to another machine which is what 7.2mb appears to be doing...

while some may say that im cheating as i am knowingly using a client that over claims heres my logic

1. this 8-core mac pro will be in the top 10 RAC machines whatever, i have been the top machine for a while a few weeks back, and that isnt my reason for running seti anyway (not denying that it was fun being at the top for a while!)
2. using 7.2mb is increasing the overall project load by replicating the WU hence tying up another energy consuming cpu in someone elses farm
3. the 8-core takes about 600watts constant power draw while crunching and as far as i am concerned the more work i can do for the project for all that electricity the better, regardless of people possibly calling me a cheat, that's just the price of performance lol

if the 7.2mb worked correctly i would use it immediately however Alex Kan is busy with other commitments and cant sort out all these problems single handed as fast as we unenlightened users would like, so a compromise is required

im not gonna use the stock app because as far as i am concerned it wasting about half of the electricity used ! (power prices here in the UK are high)

anyway i'd be interested to know what the other high end mac users think about this , and even if they are experiencing the same problems with 7.2MB ?

regards

adream

I also posted in the other thread, I'm on a Mac Pro and was using 7.2mb and my average credit was falling through the floor - I've loaded the new 7.2mb1 now - wait and see...

I used to get an average daily credit of 4000, now it's down to 2000 and dropping :-(

7.2mb1 should sort us all out

the reason for your drop in RAC is probably the weakly similar results pending if youre anything like me

I don't know, I have 4700 pending - that's not enough to salvage my RAC back to 4000 from 2000.

I was thinking to bootcamp into Windows and try an optimized app from there for a few days to see if it made any difference...
