Heard this joke from another web forum.

When the Iraqis/Arabs shoot, the Aussies duck.
When the Aussies shoot, the Iraqis/Arabs duck.
When the Americans shoot, everybody ducks.

I think that the point was someone complaining about the U.S. But it sounds a bit more like a joke. You would assume that it was probably an Aussie that came up with it.

But then when there is that much firepower in any one area, most people with brains would duck, especially when someone has access to an AC-130 Gunship. Those 105mm rounds can have a big impact.

And this is not a go at anyone. In fact I do have an interest in military tech (I know the AC-130, A-10 and even DU are effective at their tasks). I remember jokes made during the first Gulf War about 'smart' cruise missiles that would hunt down Saddam (by knocking on doors and navigating corridors in underground bunkers to find their target).

Rush - As for statistic about Iraqis killed by their own countrymen, I don't know whether they would be any accurate ones, as I believe it would be difficult for any to accurately determine the number killed in the various bombings (especially in crowed places and at funerals, since no one has any idea how many were there to start with). But I do know the number is way too high. But stopping it will not be easy or cheap.

Maybe the Coalition should just let the Iraqis kill each other off. It's a real shame but to let our armed forces die is worse. We should, however, concentrate on defeating al-Qaeda. It's a shame that the Pakistani leader Pervez Musharraf won't let us in there in the northwestern part of his country to do some real damage there. Also there is the factor of killing civilians. How about some high-flying drones? Maybe we have them in there now.
