Do you still need help with this, or did you figure out the problem? I'm running FC7 no problem with BOINC 5.8.16.

I'm also running FC 7 and BOINC 5.8.16 and the machine seems not to be able to compute correctly. Lot of the computation are aborted. Can't figure out what to do now. Resulst for my machine

Do you have SELinux enabled? Is it in enforcing mode?

Are you running any other BOINC projects? Do they compute properly?

Im getting the same issue with FC7 while trying to run the client.
[error] GUI RPC bind failed: 98

Trying to run_manager I get:

Skin Manager: Application name was not defined. Using default.
Skin Manager: Failed to load application logo. Using default.
Skin Manager: Company name was not defined. Using default.
Skin Manager: Company web site was not defined. Using default.

Skin Manager: Default tab was not defined. Using default.
Skin Manager: Exit message was not defined. Using default.
Skin Manager: Failed to load attach to project wizard bitmap logo. Using default.
Skin Manager: Attach to project wizard title was not defined. Using default.
Skin Manager: Failed to load attach to project wizard bitmap logo. Using default.

This was a fresh install of 7. FC6 worked fine. :(

FC7 is fine. The manager is fine...don't worry about the skin messages.

This error means you have another boinc running. Check all running processes and terminate existing boinc:
ps -ax|grep boinc

Someone discovered this solution and posted here:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=1856

There is a bug with some 5.10.x 64-bit versions on linux that will not properly terminate boinc when closing the manager. (This has been my experience anyway, so I run 5.8.16.)

Hi DJStarfox,

SELinux is disabled. Which program should be ran in enforcing mode?
No, there are not any other BOINC projects.

Regards

SELinux has three modes: disabled, permissive, or enforcing. Leave it disabled, as most workstations don't need it, and it just gets in the way.

I would perform a full hardware memory test on your system. I have used cpuburn-in for linux. Run it in single-user mode. There are lots of people who have posted about testing their hardware in the forms...do a search if you need more info.

Your specific error was also discovered with Einstein, and I believe the problem is the same here:
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/forum_thread.php?id=6072&nowrap=true

Also, check your CPU, case, and HD temperatures. Make sure all are under 60 deg Celsius (and case should be much lower than CPU of course).
