I'm new to this.. forgive me if it has been asked before. I used to have the very old version of seti@home but now I see it's "BOINC". I figured out how to get the screensaver started.. but the only way I could get it to work is by suspending all the other projects I currently have. Is that the only way to do it? Suspend three so that the fourth one appears as the screensaver? And if I want project #2 to be used as a screensaver then suspend 1, 3 and 4??

If you want to pick and choose your screen saver, then yes, you have to suspend other projects so that BOINC will only use that project's screen saver. However, keep in mind that suspending projects is not really a great idea since it will mess up your project debts and can cause you to miss deadlines or have other problems.

My suggestion is to simply let BOINC run all projects unsuspended. BOINC will actually cycle through every running project's screen saver if you have a dual core CPU. For instance, if you have a Core 2 Duo or a Pentium 4 with HT and you're currently processing work for SETI@Home and Rosetta, the screen saver will switch between the SETI@Home screen saver and the Rosetta screen saver every so often. This way, you actually get to see all of them and have a variety of screen savers! :-)

Hope that helps,

BOINC shows the screen saver of one of the running projects. Every time the project switches the screen saver does too. Many of the screen savers for the projects are showing data from the current task, and the screen saver would do nothing if the task were not running.
