For hundreds of years there have been available to any reader here moral systems based on reason and logic that are endearing to the hearts and sensibilities of us all....

Aside from being a 'sin'... What would be the 'logic' and 'reason' that would dictate it's pervasiveness?

Bigotry/Racism/Prejudice, unfortunately, are alive and well even in a Reverse form.

When I was in school in N.C. I had a hallmate across the dorm hall-African American---huge guy. Roomed with an Arabic guy (specific place of origin was unknown).

They were horrible to me.

One night I left my door unlocked as I was so tired I didn't realize it. Knowing I am near-fatally allergic to cats, they opened my door and threw a neighborhood cat in. I heard them laughing about it as I was carted off to the hospital while trying not to suffocate.

In another instance, during finals week they would come over every 20 minutes or so and slam on my door with a baseball bat and run back into their room. I snuck up to the door and watched the light at the bottom and when their door opened I opened mine and got hit square in the face with the bat. Had to leave school for the rest of the year to recover from multiple fractures in my face.

I am against hate crime legislation...any physical act by one person against another is a hate crime. Murder is a hate crime. Wife/husband beating is a hate crime. A crime against a child is a hate crime. Rape is a hate crime, etc. etc. etc., and should be dealt with accordingly. The crime is the hate.

MrGray-no I didn't sue because at the time I was drinking heavily and the injuries gave me a chance to clean up and refocus my life.

But "Freddy" (his actual name) was booted from the football team which hurt his pride a great deal because his academics were rock-bottom.

Your a bigger man than I,

I would have went for the throat if someone smashed my face. I got jumped some years back and caught a blind shot to my cheek which cracked my cheek bone a little. I was pissed but all 5 of them ran away. Pretty sure the guy broke his hand from the way he was running and holding it. Cops didn't even take a report because I'm kind of large and beat 'em off, and didn't get a black eye 'til the next day...

I didn't know any better at the time or I'd have made them file. One of the reasons I never went on to law school. Our system is the best in the world when it's firing on all cylinders. One foul plug in the system and you could be grabbing your ankles.

Looking back it was a total joke on all fronts. Don't know if it was hate generated but they were not my race.
