I'm trying to set up my headless server(runing Ubuntu 7.04) to run seti at home via command line but I keep getting this : deadend@silence:~/BOINC$ ./run_client --allow_remote_gui_rpc 2007-07-05 18:28:27 [---] Starting BOINC client version 5.8.16 for i686-pc-linux-gnu 2007-07-05 18:28:27 [---] log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 2007-07-05 18:28:27 [---] Libraries: libcurl/7.16.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8d zlib/1.2.3 2007-07-05 18:28:27 [---] Data directory: /home/deadend/BOINC 2007-07-05 18:28:27 [---] Processor: 1 AuthenticAMD AMD-K6(tm) 3D processor [Family 5 Model 8 Stepping 12][fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 pge mmx syscall 3dnow k6_mtrr up] 2007-07-05 18:28:27 [---] Memory: 51.85 MB physical, 956.99 MB virtual 2007-07-05 18:28:27 [---] Disk: 13.21 GB total, 11.58 GB free 2007-07-05 18:28:27 [SETI@home] URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID: not assigned yet; location: (none); project prefs: default 2007-07-05 18:28:27 [---] No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults anyone know how to get this working. I have it set up on my desktop and it is working fine there. the desktop is a pentium 4 with 1 gig of ram running Ubuntu 7.04. |

This means that you copied the account_*.xml file from one computer to another. (No problem here). And have not succeeded in communicating with the project yet. Perhaps there are more messages a bit later that can shed light on this? BOINC WIKI |

Perhaps there are more messages a bit later that can shed light on this? I restarted the boinc client to see if I could get tou more of a data log. I think it just fixed itself. ??? 2007-07-05 21:24:44 [---] Disk: 13.21 GB total, 11.58 GB free 2007-07-05 21:24:44 [SETI@home] URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID: not assigned yet; location: (none); project prefs: default 2007-07-05 21:24:44 [---] No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults 2007-07-05 21:24:44 [SETI@home] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work 2007-07-05 21:24:44 [SETI@home] Requesting 8640 seconds of new work 2007-07-05 21:24:50 [SETI@home] Scheduler request failed: HTTP file not found 2007-07-05 21:24:50 [SETI@home] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work 2007-07-05 21:24:50 [SETI@home] Requesting 8640 seconds of new work 2007-07-05 21:24:55 [SETI@home] Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 509] 2007-07-05 21:24:55 [SETI@home] New host venue: home 2007-07-05 21:24:55 [---] General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2006-10-27 11:37:27) 2007-07-05 21:24:55 [---] Host location: home 2007-07-05 21:24:55 [---] General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 2007-07-05 21:24:55 [SETI@home] Deferring communication for 11 sec 2007-07-05 21:24:55 [SETI@home] Reason: requested by project 2007-07-05 21:24:57 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file setiathome-5.12.i686-pc-linux-gnu 2007-07-05 21:24:57 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file setiathome-5.12.i686-pc-linux-gnu.so 2007-07-05 21:25:01 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file setiathome-5.12.i686-pc-linux-gnu.so 2007-07-05 21:25:01 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 176006 bytes/sec 2007-07-05 21:25:01 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file setiathome_5.12_AUTHORS 2007-07-05 21:25:03 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file setiathome_5.12_AUTHORS 2007-07-05 21:25:03 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 1548 bytes/sec 2007-07-05 21:25:03 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file seti512.jpg 2007-07-05 21:25:04 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file seti512.jpg 2007-07-05 21:25:04 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 23659 bytes/sec 2007-07-05 21:25:04 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file setiathome_5.12_COPYING 2007-07-05 21:25:06 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file setiathome-5.12.i686-pc-linux-gnu 2007-07-05 21:25:06 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 327686 bytes/sec 2007-07-05 21:25:06 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file setiathome_5.12_COPYING 2007-07-05 21:25:06 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 34714 bytes/sec 2007-07-05 21:25:06 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file setiathome_5.12_COPYRIGHT 2007-07-05 21:25:06 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file setiathome_5.12_README 2007-07-05 21:25:06 [SETI@home] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work 2007-07-05 21:25:06 [SETI@home] Requesting 54895 seconds of new work 2007-07-05 21:25:08 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file setiathome_5.12_COPYRIGHT 2007-07-05 21:25:08 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 4760 bytes/sec 2007-07-05 21:25:08 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file setiathome_5.12_README 2007-07-05 21:25:08 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 5029 bytes/sec 2007-07-05 21:25:08 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file 11jn00aa.26574.3184.422146.3.203 ^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B^[[B2007-07-05 21:25:11 [SETI@home] Scheduler request failed: HTTP file not found 2007-07-05 21:25:11 [SETI@home] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work 2007-07-05 21:25:11 [SETI@home] Requesting 54895 seconds of new work 2007-07-05 21:25:15 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file 11jn00aa.26574.3184.422146.3.203 2007-07-05 21:25:15 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 64733 bytes/sec 2007-07-05 21:25:17 [SETI@home] Starting 11jn00aa.26574.3184.422146.3.203_2 2007-07-05 21:25:17 [SETI@home] Starting task 11jn00aa.26574.3184.422146.3.203_2 using setiathome_enhanced version 512 2007-07-05 21:25:17 [SETI@home] Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 509] 2007-07-05 21:25:17 [SETI@home] Deferring communication for 11 sec 2007-07-05 21:25:17 [SETI@home] Reason: requested by project 2007-07-05 21:25:19 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file 27fe00aa.23732.32257.617326.3.35 ^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A^[[A2007-07-05 21:25:27 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file 27fe00aa.23732.32257.617326.3.35 2007-07-05 21:25:27 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 50830 bytes/sec |

This means that you copied the account_*.xml file from one computer to another. (No problem here). And have not succeeded in communicating with the project yet. Perhaps there are more messages a bit later that can shed light on this? Ok the computer showed up on my account page so I think it's fixed. thanks |
