Is there an updated list of best signal canidates? I have searched and the only list I come up with as posted on the classic website in 2002. Anyone with information where I can find the newest list, the information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

I would like to see this too,,, I have been a member since 2001 and used to regularly look up stats-but when the website changed a couple of years ago I found it much less user friendly, I can check my own stats, but I cant see anything else apart from downloading information and the updates about outrages etc. Because of this I rarely visit Seti@home anymore and only found out today I was running the wrong programme! PLEASE can we have a small thread about Best Signal Candidates, or info about some of the other Boinc projects? I think by failing to provide feedback the site may be putting some people off joining... |

I just checked Google and the last Candidate post was Nov 2002 : http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/Candidates/index.html Am I looking in the wrong Place.. or do we need an STS (Search for Terrestrial Statistics?)lol |

PLEASE can we have a small thread about Best Signal Candidates, or info about some of the other Boinc projects? I think by failing to provide feedback the site may be putting some people off joining... This is a link to current plans....SETI@home Plans Seti Home Enhanced is currently ongoing. Seti Multibeam should start soon as it is in beta testing. Astropulse is also in beta testing. Near Time Persistency Checker....which is what you are asking about....is also being worked on at the moment. As mentioned on 19 June 2007 by Matt Lebofsky progress is happening on this front. as regards other Boinc projects, the best way to get information is to visit the Boinc website...... |

Thanks for your prompt response, as I say I rarely come here so didnt see the 19 June info....is it possible to post a link once these are up and running? I dont usually use chat or messageboards, and only came across the thread because I was getting frustrated while looking for info. Thanks again and I will check out the links! Hmm... checked the links, interesting info from the Planetary Society.. but dated 2005 and before... I suppose I will just have to "watch this Space", (pun intended!) The info from Matt Lebowski is interesting too.....sounds like hard work! |

I'm sure they'll post a link on the front page once they get the candidate link up and running. They are quite short staffed and underfunded so things sometime take twice as long....but they and we persevere....Ha! |

When I look at the Seti Master Science Database, I see we have collect several hundred million Spikes, Gaussians, Pulses and Triplets. Seti@Home has only gone back once in all these years and checked out a handful of these without any luck. If all we are doing is collecting Spikes, Gaussians, Pulses and Triplets without any further analysis this entire exercise is a total waste of everyone’s time. And if this is the case, I’m pulling the plug on Seti. I would very much like to hear from Seti@Home what their current plans are and what they intend to do with all this data that is sitting around gathering dust. I’m sure the rest of my fellow crunchers are just as curious. Franz |

... what they intend to do with all this data that is sitting around gathering dust. ... Just wait 'till ya get to see their "Near Real-Time Persistency Checker"... That should make for a real feast for our eyes aswell as home in on some real science! (And that may well be the subject of the renewed hardware collecting...) However, I will not pull my plug, but I have reduced my crunching. I'll stick around, analyzing have to start sometime. Hopefully soon. |
