I can't download and I can't report, I can upload, Last week after the outage It worked, Slowly But It worked. Now It's back to the way It was before and It's BROKEN Again, So can somebody please fix this? As I'm getting real discouraged, When Seti works, Someone just has to tinker and We end up being Beta testers for the Server software...........

I actually just got some work (where as before while you could i couldn't).
But it was on the 3rd attempt (after 20 or so others 4-8 hours earlier didn't get any).
Looking at the Server Status page & Scarecrows graphs it would appear there are still bottlenecks in the database.

I can UPLOAD and REPORT now like it must.. ;-)

I can't tell something about DOWNLOAD, because BOINC don't ask for new work! :-)

No problems with uploading, downloading or reporting.
But boy is the main page, and getting to the forums, slow.

The cricket graphs are showing something amiss. Able to upload and report but unable to download. Looks like this started about an hour ago.

Yep, the backend died again. It must have been getting intermittantly slow much earlier than when it went over the cliff, since I have my hosts setup with massive negative LTD's for the backup projects and one of them DL'ed an EAH around 03:30 UTC.

The uploading to the servers is working perfectly but to get new work it tels me the following:

So within a few hours I am getting dry of workunits, what can I do about it except start with a other project.

I now have a bunch of new WU's assigned (but not yet downloaded) again. I set SETI to "No new work" for the time being so the list doesn't grow any longer.

I am also getting WU assigned but they are unable to download, also over the last few days the website has been very slow ( it took about 10 minutes to load this page) and the time it usually takes for me to complete WUs has doubled.

Yeah same here.

Not really something to panic about, but it seems as good a thread as any to use- noticed that the network traffic has been steadily climbing over the last week or so.
Used to hover around the 22Mb/s mark, now it's sitting around the 30Mb/s mark.
Have we picked up that many more active participants over the last week?

I don't know about anyone else, but I recently have been getting a LOT of very SMALL WUs instead of the medium-large ones I have in the past. That tends to increase network usage.

Another possibility is that a lot of 5.10.7 users set their cache to 0 with x additional to crunch; causing Report Results Immediately type of behavior...also increases network traffic.

We also need to remember we are now doing the "aborted by project" thing. That will bump up the network traffic, as WU's aborted from people's caches are replaced with "fresh" WU's.

You're going to get responses that all over the board. I have mine set at 10 days so I don't have to deal with the somewhat daily issues of 'no work available', 'can't get downloads', 'servers down', etc. You will also hear that with 10 days cashe you will not be able to crunch everthing and work will 'expire', not the case, BOINC crunch's WU's based on WU expiration date, not when you got it. So from my perspective, think BIG :)

On the other hand (or other side of the board), with a 10-day cache and using the latest BOINC clients, many of those WUs will be aborted before they get a chance to run because the quorum will already have been met. The penalty for this is the space they take up on your harddrive plus the bandwidth to download them and their replacements.

I run with a 0 days connect setting and a 1.5 days additional work value. But I run multiple projects and have broadband, so I'm 'always on' anyway. YMMV.
