Preferences doesn't work fine

I think some of my preferences aren't taking effect. I specified 30 sec between disk writes but it writes *always*, and my disk Ãs quite noisy. I selected no oscillation period and no oscillation range, horizontal and vertical (by filling these cells with a 0), but the graph still moves. The number of stars was updated and the disk quota respected. I don't understand why the changes made in the graphic didn't take effect and the time between writes wasn't respected.
