Feels like we're slowly pulling away from the chaos created by this massive outage. Our machines aren't stable at the best of times, so it's been a pain for those of us who like seeing steady progress.

I now have three machines that have enough RAM/CPU to make my GALFA datacubes: ewen, thumper and vader. It seems ewen still likes to reboot itself on occasion, but it made about 6 cubes over the weekend. I have to make 95 in all, and I've got 34 done so far. Here's an image showing all 19 "tiles" centered on a declination of 10.35 degrees:

As you can see there are some regions where no scans have happened yet, but it's a multi-year project and we figured we'd see what we have while Arecibo has their shutdown. My SETHI jobs are going pretty slowly, but hopefully I'll soon be able to start the final 8 cubes so I can have my all-sky map for that project.

Bass Night with Jeff was fun on Friday. We went for some Thai food beforehand, then hit the Freight & Salvage coffee house for the show. We both thought Jeff Schmidt was the most entertaining of the four players, but to see Michael Manring live was a real treat too.

Ottawa has made it to the Stanley Cup finals! Can they break the streak of Canadian teams losing in the final? Let's hope so. I can't wait to see if Anaheim can close out the Red Wings tomorrow night too.
