Hi ! I'm unable to remove one of my old hosts from my host list. CPU has contacted seti project last time on 2005 , 1 packet is holding host on list. Is there any way to remove host from list ? |

Hi ! I'm no expert, but it seems that they drop off 30 days after the last reported task. There is nothing you need to do. It's automatic. At least that is what has happened to hosts I have taken off the project before. |

Hi ! They drop off the visible list, but they are still registered on the system - that's why there's a line at the bottom which gives you a choice of Show: All hosts | Only hosts active in past 30 daysIn response to the original question: The host is, as you say, holding one result (packet), and that is the reason why it can't be deleted. The result in question is one of the infamous 10 Aug 2005 WUs: something went badly wrong on that day, and the WUs never got tidied away as the others are. You will find several discussion threads here on the subject: periodically, another user starts up a campaign to have the database purged and these stray packets deleted forever. However, it never quite seems to make it to the top of the priority list for the staff at Berkeley to spend time tracking the problem down and deleting them by hand. I'm afraid you're probably stuck with your (dormant, hidden) host for a while yet. |

Are you able to open the host, using the old AMD computer, from BOINC Manager? If so, I would suggest you do so, and try the "detach" button (if you have not already previously done so). It does clear more recent Ghost Results, and it would be interesting to see if it could deal with the 10th August 2005 chestnut. Keith |
