1) Set preferences with the manager, not on the websites.
2) Be able to select more than one WU at a time you wish to suspend work on or resume work on.

I'm sure I'll have more ideas.
Anybody else have ideas?
Or contrary thoughts to the two I have already listed?

If we get a good list, how should we bring it to the attention of those who could create/distribute an update?

I really like the idea of being able to set the preferences on BOINC Manager...All of my computers are different...But now i have to set the preferences the same on all of them at the website...when i really want different settings for my laptop.

C/A, I haven't looked in that forum for some time. Sorry. However, different people tend to peruse different portions of the overall site, so does it hurt to gather some ideas here and take it from that point on?
Dan, good point about some pros and cons. Using the website means you can set things differently for different computers, all at once rather than walking to each machine, right?

Then again, the version of the manager currently available is not the one I originally downloaded. I'm pretty sure there are differences, least of which is the simple and advanced views.

Hi Sarge, Thanks for starting this thread, I didn't mean to sound negative really
but if a suggestion comes from US crazies on the Cafe thread, I doubt it would ever reach the top....

Maybe, but in a few months I can sign it "Dr. Sarge."

Plus, the whole idea isn't to complain, but suggest improvements.
(BOINC is open source, right?)

Right now you get one setting for all your computers from the website...no machine by machine settings...it's one size fits all...If i could set preferences with the BOINC manager i could set my laptop up to run at less than 100% CPU...While letting the rest run full bore.

Dan You do have three choices Home work and School
so you can split your farm into three categories...

Dan, scroll all the way down in general preferences and see:
"Add separate preferences for home"
"Add separate preferences for school"
"Add separate preferences for work"
Then again, what if one has multiple computers in a particular location?

Kool idea for a thread Sarge.

A more intuitive GUI would be nice. It took me a long time to figure out how to get around in here, and I still fumble a bit.

Who is the manager of the BOINC project?

They'd never get off the phone if we all tried to set our preferences directly with them..

HeHe..
