The ability to delete an account no matter what the project. Should be a user controlled issue anyway, also could make it a one stop shop via BOINC software. Would make it easier.

This is science, and for validity sake things do not get deleted.

1. This is a scientific project. Scientist don't like to delete data.
2. The projects depend on donations. Large institutional donors (especially governmental) want all the stats related to the project and they have to be auditable which means you can't remove old accounts or the claimed numbers past and present can't be proven.
3. Giving user too much control causes problems. example: Seti-Classic had problems with accounts being hijacked because it allowed for the users to merge different accounts.

Surely it would not be wrong to merge an account if different computers were used by the same person on that given account... The data would still be there just in one place rather than many.

I should have added that I would like to merge (what seti calls 2 computers) but are actually one that I tried out Linux Ubuntu on with Boinc to make sure it worked ok before switching over to Ubuntu permanently... However I found Ubuntu very unautomated being a windows user for about 15 years now and so decided not to use Ubuntu after all. Seti still shows my 3 results it calculated when I log on though, so I would like to see them merged if possible in a future release.

Why create multiple accounts in the first place, when only one is needed?

In this case merging will not work because, as far as the project is concerned, they are two different computers. (I believe the basic hardware and operating system detected by the project must be the same.) However, when all three workunits expire (by passing their time deadline) you will be able to delete the Linux host from your list.

I didnt actually create another account, all I did was sign into my own account whilst under linux and seti thought I was using another computer and so created a second computer on the same account automatically... I had no say in it. Still its only 3 results so about 12 - 16 hours work in total. Could have been worse though so... Shrugs.
