Since I installed BOINC manager 5.8.17 for MacOS X i keep getting this error message (in all projects): So 29 Apr 16:56:13 2007|SETI@home|Reason: requested by project What can I do to change this? If I change the permissions manually BOINC manager will not run anymore and requires a reinstall.

Maybe this will help. I am running 5.8.15 on a mac mini. 5.8.17 may be completely different. If you are using Alex Kan's app and boinc is not running at all it is likely that you will need to change the owner and the group on the custom app and the new xml file you installed. Owner should be boinc_manager and group should be boinc_project. Just for comparison::::::: These are the permissions on my /library/application support/ directory drwxrwxr-x 27 boinc_ma boinc_ma 918 Apr 29 12:55 BOINC Data owner and group are boinc_manager it gets cutoff in the terminal display Here are the contents of my BOINC DATA directory. Same owner and group of boinc_manager. Maybe this will help. I am running 5.8.15 on a mac mini. 5.8.17 may be completely different. Thanks peanut. My BOINC-Data folder has boinc_master as owner and group is also boinc_master. There might be differences between the PPC- and Intel-version. There's another thing that puzzles me: I do not even have a file called "client_state_next.xml" in the BOINC Data folder.
