I first joined in Dec. '99 and ran my home and office systems on SETI 24x7 faithfully for a couple of years. I was even in the top 1% for a while.

But I retired, moved to a new city and got a new computer. The new computer ran very hot and there was no way to limit the load so I more or less abandoned SETI.

I recently got a new Acer M5620 with Core2Quad 6600 CPUs so I am back and it looks like Boinc can accommodate fairly decent load management.

8 years ago today I joined SETI@Home after seeing the link on the Art Bell web site. Lots of crunching since then. Are we ever going to find ET? :-)

I missed my 8 year anniversary. I started with SETI on April 10, 1999. I had a P200 machine running Windows 95. With that machine and a number at work, I returned 31,505 classic units using 403,171 hours of CPU time.

Here is a link to a page on the classic SETI site with lists of people by the date they joined. It starts with March 1, 1999 and ends with January 11, 2006 although there aren't any entries in most of later months / years. I didn't take the time to find the last date that had entries.

IIRC itÕs in February 2002 or thereabouts.

P.S. I turned the URL quoted above into an actual link.

My date was May 20, 1999, I'm a lot older and not sure how much wiser... Just started again with SETI October 27 and finally found my old account. It's nice to be able to reclaim credit from the old one.

Congrats to all!
