Use at most (Enforced by version 5.8 and greater) blank% of memory when computer is in use

Is there a recommended %? If I put a high value will that affect my computer performance?

Reason I ask is that I've been having problems with my main computer and I just remembered about this setting. I've changed from what I had it before but thought I should ask as well.

If you put in a high number for the %RAM usage while the computer is in use, it could indeed affect responsiveness and performance. That was precisely the reason that it was put there in the first place. I do not believe that there is any recommendation other than the defaults, however, some experimentation might be in order.
