I remember years ago there was an offer for a SETI@home certificate frame here on this website. When bought, a part of the money would directly go to the SETI@home project...

Aren't these frames available anymore? Anyone who wants to sell his one? ;)

Thank you. While you're at it, could you also ask him to deliver to Europe? :D If I recall correctly, they were only delivered to US & Canada back in the years.

Anyway, thanks again for your help!

You're welcome. :-)

They do deliver to Europe, but the shipment is very steep. We'll have to look into this, but I'm afraid the cost can't be reduced much.

Oh, allright, and what did he say in regard to producing and selling the frames again?

He said: "David's looking into what's going on with the store..."

I recommended that they take up the frames again and ship to Europe. And I forwarded the mail to him I got from Jim Pauls from the shop about the shipping costs and said that he can forward it to Dave also to draw his attention to this.

I hope they'll take up selling the frames, I think a lot of people might be interested in buying it, and if people can gather their orders in one, then the shipping costs can be held down. People have done that before when the shop opened, but again, shipping to Europe (or anywhere else outside the US) is very expensive.

What carrier does the Store use to ship to Europe? USPS International Priority Mail isn't all that expensive. It's a lot cheaper than UPS/DHL/FedEx

Jim Pauls said this:

"USPS prices vary from country to country, so we use a standard table for shipping costs, we only break even on total shipping using USPS International (including cost of box). When available, they sip via Global Priority Mail, which is less but rarely available and a maximum of 4 lbs. Currently there is no way to add another table without causing mass confusion when ordering internationally due to the rare location availability. We would have to list each location with rules on the "choose shipping method" page."

Again, I paid $20.50 for having one pen (@ $16.99) shipped to Germany and $23.10 for having two pens (also @ $16.99) shipped to Denmark. And that was USPS International Priority Mail.

I think it also depends on the packaging. I was able to ship some computer memory to England for only $9.50. Take the memory in its original packaging, put that in a bubble padded envelope, and put that into the Global flat rate priority envelope. The whole thing was weighed only 1 pound. Perhaps the Store could do a little better with the way it ships things?

Again, Eric said David will look into this. But you can suggest this to him.

My pens arrived in a very big (for the two little boxes with the pens) cardboard box with some bubble-plast wrapped around them to fill the box. Maybe they have some standard boxes to use?

When I have sent something over there, the most I have paid was about $10 and then the package was with a couple of small books. Usually I pay about $4.50 and I use bubble padded envelopes too.

I think you'll have to talk with Dave about this.

I suggest you buy a nice frame locally *and* donate some money to seti@home.
Remember we want to support seti@home, not UPS, DHL or whatever!

For a trivial amount you can use paypal.
For a fairly small sum you can donate a disk drive, which I think is a lot of fun.
Here is the link to the main donation page.

...which I've already done, as you can see by the little green star beside my nick name ;)
But I especially like the original SETI@home certificate frame, so any news on this? :)
