I can't get my seti@home to run based on preferences. On the website I have set the 'general' and the 'home computer' preferences to 'run after idle for 3 minutes', but, on the simple view preferences, the "do work after idle" drop-down always defaults to "0 run always".

No matter how many times I press and save '3 minutes' in simple view preferences and use the 'update' button in 'project' seti just keeps running as 'always on'.

Help appreciated.

Try moving it to one of the other venues home/work/school. Sometimes that works better.

Cheers.

Nothing worked so I just throttled CPU time back to 60% and let it always run. That keeps my PC to within safe temperatures.

Even with the very effective Zalman CNPS9500 heatsink fan on my 3.0 D processor I was getting 56C when allowing Boinc 100% CPU time. 45C case temp. Right on the thresholds. Nothing else I run pushes the temps so high.

I might get extra and better case fans and try again.

That works for me but 56C is not really that high, I have a dual core 3.2ghz with HT on each core and it is running 83C! But if your machine doesn't like it that high that is okay. I have a Zalman too. I have a fan in the front, a hole in the side and a fan in the back. EE cpu's just run hot.
