Having updated my old account, downloaded and installed the programme, when I run it, all I get is the following message, over and over again (after waiting the amount of time stated at the end):

I'm on a laptop running Windows 98SE, and I have Zone Alarm running. I've read god knows how many other posts, and haven't found anything that's helped. I'm not very techie when it comes to things like this, so cardboard chewable pages would be best with any explanation. I'm about to just give up and carry on running the old sah and then leave it alone when it's phased out.

Thanks in advance for any help.

1. First read this. The version 4.05 has problems with W98.

2. If you decide to switch over to the version 4.07, at your own risk, you can download it from here.

3. Install that version and run it.

4. When ZoneAlarm asks you if you allow access to the trusted zone answer yes. On the question if allow to act as a server for Internet, answer no. The problem you have for the moment is due to the configuration settings of ZoneAlarm for Boinc. You can actually send some info to the server, but the server can not connect to your PC.

Hope this helps.

Greetings from Belgium.

Thanks to both of you, but I can't download the updated version. I've gone to the links you both gave me, both lead me to the same page, and I clicked on the Windows/x86 'click to download' link. It just brought up the exact same page. I noticed the 'First-time BOINC Alpha Test participants:
Don't download BOINC software now. Create an account before you download' bit, and clicked on the 'Create an account' link instead: same result. I don't seem to be able to get off this page!

Is there something obvious I'm missing, or is it supposed to be running me around in circles?!?

Uops, download link seems not to work. :(
And this is the only place where you can download it. I'm afraid you will have to wait untill people in Berkeley fixed to broken download link.

Thanks to you both, but the updateed version just crashes when left to itself for more than about 5 minutes. I guess I'm just not meant to be running it.
I'll come back every few months maybe, see if there's a version that might work with my system.
