Ponder this:
If life is soo fleeting but time is on our side then why does God have us sleep half of each unless we are all part of a larger thing that both knows us, sees our faults and our efforts and yet leaves us alone for both our good. The power of the words both "divine" and "nemonic" are both sides of each coin of reality we travel within.
It's the aspects of our own nature that deprive us and as we develop in both life and lifeforms will we see that complication becomes another word to describe what we learn and design by our nature.
Design by our nature, thats the word of our day, we strive to develop ourselves and within this we find ways to describe ourselves within all our senses.
Facts of life are inheirant within not just DNA but the actual DNA of the Quark zoo that is which to be discovered. Thats the next Undiscovered Country.

We are absolutely thrilled to be a part of this project! I have my son doing the same on his computer. Thank you for asking for help :)

Why would you be requesting assistance in the SETI@Home staff blog space? It would be more appropriately asked in Number Crunching.

Hi there to everybody,

My name is Clara. I'm Spanish, from Madrid. I'm not a professional scientist although I'm very, very keen on astrophysics, cosmology, and any type of science really. I'm 34, so I won't start a new career because I'm too old for that, but I'm never going to quit science and I will always want to know MORE.

I joined the SETI@home project some years ago but only recently I've re-joined it to check what's going on after five or six years. I think it's a great initiative and that people like me, who join draged by a passion, are very enthusiastic and we're willing to learn more and more everyday. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds it exciting to get in touch with experts, specialist like you guys, because we feel that by knowing you, we'll take our knowledge a bit further every time we read a forum discussion.

People who've never heard of the SETI project get so excited when I talk to them about it! It appeals to their more romantic side, the search for extraterrestrial life!! This is why I'm convince that if, somehow, the project got more "publicity", more and more people would put their computers in for the cause.

Maybe, only maybe, it needs to be exposed as if you were talking about a new religion! A philosophical point of view! Imagine, extraterrestrial life beyond the limits of our galaxy...

I can ad to this discussion that science is very, very poorly taught in many schools and I think it's the labour of those who as adults know a lot about it, to transmit their knowledge. It's really something that concerns to everybody, Isn't it? And the world would be a better place if we had a label hanging of our necks saying "When I get to work I am a powerful guy, but when I look through my telescope, and then connect to Boinc in the search for extraterrestrial life, I become insignificant".

I mean, really, who cares if we speak Japanese, Spanish, English or Latin. We're all talking the same language anyway and we can perfectly understand each other in the forums. Imagine if we can't, WHat is it going to be like when the extraterrestrial finally reach us!!!!
All this language discussion is a waste of time in my opinion. Don't waste a minute on it and just express yourself no matter now.
Accessibility in the concepts is what's needed. Almost achieved, this is not a critic. But get wider!!!! Spread your knowledge, PLEASE!!!!!!!!! WE want to know more about the SETI!!! When it started, why, what are the achievements, Is there real hope?, Why do scientist think there's got to be life out there, etc etc etc... Share some articles!, pass the links to us!, why did you become excited about cosmology when you were young!

THanks a lot for listening to me and for applying your precious time to read this!
Take care, Keep in touch.
Clara

Hi...
I've had the Seti at Home screen saver for a good many years, but tonight I saw it develop a very unique fixed pattern that was not the usual mixed carpet matt appearance. I would like to bring this to the attention of the folks at Seti, but cannot find any kind of Contact anywhere on this website!
I recorded the information and if someone could sent it on to the important people, please do so.
Thank You:

The splitters notch out the frequency which is a DC response, which happens to be at Base Frequency: 1.420000000 GHz. The resulting trough pattern has been observed fairly often, it's not what we're searching for unfortunately.

Thank you Joe...
It was really quite something to see a geometrical pattern rather than that random spiking that we see from day to day.
This had clear-cut V and inverted V patterns going across the box.
I thought for sure that had to be Man or Alien Made.
Another question for you sir...
If I or one of the other members of Seti At Home were to have a genuine hit, would someone let us know? Or to make things more exciting for the home user, there could be a "Hit Probability Score Bar" on the Seti At Home Screen Saver.
This indeed would give both a added degree of thrill factor for the home user and as a marketing tool for new recruits.
Thanks again:
Waldemar

Waldemar, it's probably impossible to have a hit in that sense. Any possible signal detected by the SaH algorithms is 99.9999... percent likely to be either a detection of our own technology or pure noise.

The project relies on multiple observations of the same celestial coordinates at different times to judge whether signals may be from astronomical distances. Thus, if/when some e.t. source of signals is found, several different WUs will have contributed to the detection. All users who processed those WUs will share in the credit.

You should probably ask that in the Number Crunching forum. If that's wrong, at least there are a lot more people there who can direct you to the right place.

Sorry for my english.

I'm at seti@home since May 1999.
I use machines with Nvidia GPU, but I don't want to use them with Seti@home (and other projects). I have desativated the use of GPU. But I receive jobs that I not process. It's possible that automaticaly Boinc don't downloud those tipe of jobs if a user have GPU desativated?.
I think it was intersting to make a little arrangement on Boinc to prevent that.

Thanks.

Go to the Setiathome project preferences and Deselect 'Use Nvidia GPU' then Boinc will no longer ask for Nvidia work, Using Boinc Manager's Activity menu to Suspend GPU use only does that, nothing else.

I have a question... I leave my computer on 24/7, and on the Results Page, it has a 3 day gap with NO results showing, and on two additional days, it shows only one task per day being done, when my average has been about 12 per day. I was wondering, if the work was lost, along with my credits!

Thank You!
