I'm sure Germany has computer stores. The trick is to avoid the commercial stores (the consumer electronics places), and go for dedicated computer stores. http://www.anitec.ca/?mode=category&catid=131 http://www.anitec.ca/?mode=category&catid=130 You'll have to find out if your Motherboad has a socket 478 or 776. Is the Prescott any good? Intel Pentium 4 2.4A GHz (Prescott) 1M 533FSB Retail Available $169.00 (CDN) "Ships within Canada only" .. D'oh! |

Shows several P4's with a 400mhz FSB and above 2.?. I am making NO promises on any company, in fact I had a VERY bad experience with one in Cleveland Ohio, but I HAVE had some good experinces buying stuff from here too! |

If anyone just an other thought: if you can't find an 400 MHz FSB pentium, due outdated you can from a "technical" point of view do 4 things: - stay with it - replace motherboard - by a 2nd hand chip (check if really working..) - by a 533, but let work under 400 FSB (check if the chip would run, but most would), slower performance, but better performance than with actual chip in every case, only changing the cpu might increase performance, but also think about memory (speed, ram, amount of RAM, 1 or 2-channel mode), busspeed, Grafic device, harddisk speed, cpu cooling, noise. --> well balanced system sometimes it's cheaper and more effective to take a look arround if there isn't a "packages" sold out: mainboard + cpu + good cooler perhaps with ram here in switzerland, there are some special "ugrade" offers, sure in your country it exists goodluck! (the highest increase of performance you get by adding a new pc and keeping the old) regards ric by the way, your are in a good and friendly team! |
