Oookay. I can understand the need to shut down for the night, but what the f***? It's after 11AM california time. Aren't the SETI admins going to reboot the freakin' SNAP appliance? When are we going to be able to connect to the server again???

Maybe it's not as easy as you seem to believe it is?
I'm going with that...

Yeah, I uploaded some a few minutes ago, but I'm back to "no schedulers responded" so I'm leaning towards it was a temporary thing.
I think that if they're not going to be able to get the SNAP appliance back up, they ought to at least update the news!

Unfortunately not. You can upload results but not report them. Downloading is not possible.
I agree with Heffed - probably not that easy however a quick message on the front page to give some indication of the problem would be appreciated (by me at least)

Exactly. Is that *really* asking too much? If someone here has connections to the S@H admins, tell 'em to get their ass in gear and post an informational note explaining what's going on! PLEASE! I don't think that's asking too much, and obviously I'm not alone in thinking that just keeping us updated isn't too much to ask either!

i know that people are busy at work trying to get this thing going...but it would help to quell alot of the unrest around here if they kept us better informed about the current status of the project.

I would like to see a webcam to see what they are doing? If they can't keep us informed, then we could see what is going on within Seti@home..... Just a thought...... |

if the webcam picture was of high enough quality you might see some pretty salty language being used...if you can read lips.

Why are y'all complaining about them not posting an update? Read the freakin news from yesterday (03 Sep 2004) where they said EOD tomorrow. It's currently 10 hours 43 minutes before EOD tomorrow.

You need to look at the post times. This thread started before that message. And as you put it -reading the freakin news usually tells you what did happen yesterday.

Well if not a webcam, maybe something that keeps the millions of users up to date on the status of the servers. Hmm... maybe like on the seti@home1 site (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/sstatus.html). I can go to the SETI@home server status page and see what is going on to a point. I think it is just a good thing to do for us for the free use of our computers.......
Also, I like the original seti@home home page. I don't like the new setup to the seti@home2 home page. Why don't they just put both seti@home1 and seti@home2 on the same home page????

Most UC's and CSU's here are locked down over a holiday weekend. If whoever has the keys to the lab and external building are out of town this project wont be back up until Tuesday at the earliest. |

As for the status indicator LHC have one on their main page. Its nothing flash (but quite easily could be) but at least its there. It also indicated the number of worunits available for download. If they can then......
Your second suggestion is good in theory however the pages over here on BOINC sometimes do much the same as the WU's and become unavailable. If they were combined then both projects would potentially be out at the same time.

That's nice that we can get stats on your cells phone. How about fixing the stats on the main Seti@home Boinc page? I have had the same total credit for a number of days.......

This is being worked on. The validators had a bug and the fix is currently being tested in alpha.
