The "Edit account information" page ( http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/edit_user_info_form.php ) seems to have some sort of "overflow" problem with the signature field when the users signature text becomes too long (greater than 254 characters). The contents of my signature box in the form is:
"(P)Not only are we doing distributed processing, now we're doing distributed debugging.
Who'd a' thunk it? (GRIN)(/P)(a)(img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/seti2/stats.php?userID=1011") (a)(img src="http://seti.mundayweb.com/stats.php?userID=265(/textarea)(/b)(/td)(/tr) (tr)(td class=fieldname bgcolor=eeeeee align=right valign=top)(br)(/td)(td valign=top)(b)(input type=submit value='Update info')(/b)(/td)(/tr) (/table) (/form) (br)(hr noshade size=1)(center)(a href=http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/)Return to SETI@home main page(/a)(br) (br)(br)(Copyright © 2004 University of California(/center) (/body) (/html)"
and there is no "Submit" button, so I have no way the updateclearcorrect the signature text. In the code above, I have replaced the "less than" and "greater then" symbols with the "open parenthesis" and "close parenthesis," respectively. (My signature, below, is hard coded into this message.)
Stephen
S@h Berkeley's Staff Friends Club © Member
Not only are we doing "distributed processing," now we're doing "distributed debugging."
Who'd a' thunk it? I know it's not a typo, I've called it Internet Exploder for years. However, I'm using Netscape 7.2. I have Internet Exploder on my system because MicroShaft requires me to have it on the machine. They have (or had) tied it into the OS (Win98SE) and the updates for the OS so closely that you have have to have it and all it's security FUBARS. Thanks for the reply, Stephen |

It's an incompatibility with the site code and NS/Mozilla. :( Log in with Exploder and you can fix the sig issue. |

I will give IE a try, as much as I hate to ever run that thing. Thanks again, Stephen |

> Heffed, that got it. Thank you very much for your assistance. No problem. I can't take credit though, I was just passing on what I had read on the forum. :) I think it's something the S@H team needs to look at though, because more and more people are becoming wary of Exploder. I'm amazed anyone still uses it... |
