I'll probably lose two or three WUs again, I have in each of that couple of upload problems.

9:40 PM Central Time and it's still having issues.

It being New Year's Eve in California right now, what do you suppose the odds are of anyone popping in to kick the server? :)

Worked fine all day after this mornings problems, but I've got a WU stuck again now despite all servers showing green.

12/31/2006 7:49:20 PM|SETI@home|Started upload of file 01dc03ab.21618.10016.122158.3.216_2_0
12/31/2006 7:49:42 PM||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
12/31/2006 7:49:42 PM|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 01dc03ab.21618.10016.122158.3.216_2_0: http error
12/31/2006 7:49:43 PM||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.

At least it downloaded a whole days work first, I was down to 2 WUs waiting to process this morning and it had me worried about idling. ;-)

Edit: Forgot to mention that I did lose one to validation errors this morning as well. <sigh>

I did get one WU through but it was gunned in Validate Errors.

I've disabled all Network activity on my machines until things get better.

Probably a New Year rollover bug. I got my first upload error at 00:15 UT.
Happy New Year anyway;)

When we finally figure it all out, all the rules will change and we can start all over again.

becuase 3 of 4 are down does that mean that there is only a 25% chance of uploading? Wus should be able to upload just not as many at once like before correct?

Assimilators have nothing to do with up/downloading. The only thing that has to be up for you to upload work is the "upload/download server (kryten)". To download requires the feeder and the scheduler as well.

My bet is on an NFS problem. They have problems every once in a while with NFS mounts going stale. No big deal to fix but very noticable when it fails.

Likely won't see anyone at Berkeley fixing this issue till tuesday morning PST as it's still New Years Eve her in the bay area of California. That is unless it works itself out on it's own...

I just shut down network activity too as I have now lost 9 work units or about an hour and a half of work...I have plenty to weather this little issue and I'm sure glad to have a 6mb connection to the net so when it comes back up it won't take all day to upload again. I'm clocking some 40+ WU waiting to transmit.

Hunkering down here in the NORCAL till this all blows over.

Hey it's like 10 guys in a small office on the Berkeley campus they don't have the manpower to monitor it every waking hour of every day...needless to say the servers usually run without many problems considering all the computers they keeps busy and all the results they have to handle. Lets not forget that this is the eve of a US national holiday and likely an (international holiday) so no need to blame the SETI staff...let them enjoy their holiday and any of us that have prepared properly should be able to weather a few days till it's back up. Don't think for a minute that your effort is being taken for granted by the SETI staff.

We're about to roll another year here in California so I would expect about 36 hours till they get a bead on what's wrong with the systems. Plus or minus of course.

During this refusal by the U/L servers (or whatever) to accept returned results, the concensus seems to agree to "suspend network activity" using the drop downs in BOIN C Manager!

Done this and the /Messages Tab/ seems to report the command is being ignored.

To test this I shutdown BOINC, with the "suspend network activity" ON, and restarted after about 15 seconds, to cover residuals. The /Messages Tab/ reported the network activity resumed immediately after WU crunching was resumed.

If the network activity was then resuspended the /Messages Tab/ suggests this is being ignored still! This is from the reports in both the /Messages tab/ and the activity in the /Transfers Tab/ where the "trying to U/L WUs" just carry on with their countdown and retry!

Anyone else getting this problem, when I am trying to ease my demand on the server
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues
